I have been looking for this for a long time and finally found an interesting plugin, Airplane Mode for WordPress.ย This plugin allows you to install WordPress on your local desktop/laptop and stop it from trying to load fonts, icons, gravatars, or javascript libraries of any sort.
Without this you will notice that a local installation devoid of an internet connection will have page loading processes delayed by the browser attempting to load external resources.ย ย ย This is a real waste of time when trying to develop a site and one is prone to reload a page several times a minute in order to test changes in the code.
